The senatorial campaign of Hon. Mustapha Ayoola Ishola of the National Rescue Movement is gathering momentum. The former Labour Party (LP) and African Democratic Congress (ADC) member is being prepared as the candidate of the National Rescue Movement (NRM) for the Ogun West Senatorial District in the 2027 general elections. This followed plans within the leadership of the NRM that the party should be brought to limelight in 2027. Sources revealed that NRM leaders and a significant number of members of the party in Ogun State are backing Mustapha Ayoola Ishola based on his grassroots mobilization drive, and extensive administration knowledge, political experience and track records. According to an insider, Hon. Mustapha Ayoola Ishola is will emerge as the consensus candidate for the senatorial seat, and all Ogun West voters must vote for him.
“Hon. Mustapha Ayoola Ishola is a man of the people. We trust his ability to step into the Senatorial position” said Baba Saliu (Suraju Olowookere), one of the prominent leaders of the Iwoye village in Yewa South local government of the Ogun West senatorial district. He continued, “Hon. Mustapha Ayoola Ishola is a man of integrity and his reputation precedes him." “Once he becomes the NRM candidate, the people will rally behind him because they know his capabilities.” Baba Saliu stressed that with the newfound drive for progress and growth within the Ogun State NRM, the party is fully committed to supporting Hon. Mustapha Ayoola Ishola, who he said has the political acumen to represent the district effectively in the Senate.
Leaders of the NRM in the senatorial district were said to have agreed that Mustapha Ayoola Ishola’s emergence as senator would be a significant step forward for Ogun West and Ogun state at large. “His candidacy would mark a turning point for Ogun State and particularly Ogun West Senatorial District at this critical moment,” said another party insider.
